Summer Project #2

This is the skirt my husband picked up at the thrift store for $2. It is a GAP skirt with a slight stretch and has a great hidden zipper.
I showed you earlier how I had Christianna put on the skirt then I pinned up the sides to ensure a good fit.
I then cut along the "pin" lines and stitched up both sides. The skirt had darts, a zipper and an interfacing already in place so I did not have to sew any of those. YAY!!!
Now, what girl wants a new skirt without a new blouse? Not my Christianna. This tank top was originally mine and I cut it down by laying one of Christianna's tank tops down on top and cutting one out exactly the same size.
As you can see, the hem is already in place so the only sewing needed here is up the sides and across the shoulders. I then turned the edges and top stitched for a simple finish around the arm holes.

Now the magic happens. A little ribbon, a couple vintage buttons, and a lot of lace later, Christianna has a perfectly matched "whole outfit" which, by the way, she loves.
