A Little Christmas Music

My children all take piano lessons at home so I am always very thankful to our pastors wife who allows the children to play at her recitals. This year all four children were scheduled to play a Christmas song. C, our youngest, had practiced a duet with me and was so super excited. This was, after all, her first Christmas recital.

As we got out of the "family ride", Christianna announced that she would play by herself this time. Heartbroken but proud, I took my place in the crowd and proceeded to tell a dear friend of mine that for the first time in years, I was watching a recital from the audience instead of from the reserved for teachers and students section.

But, alas I spoke too soon. In walked my oldest with my youngest firmly wrapped around her neck and waist like one of those toy monkeys with velcro on its hands and feet.

"What's wrong?", I asked.

"We were all going over our songs one last time and C started crying. She said,'I want to do a duet.' "

So we did!

After the recital C asked,"Mom that was fun, will you play with me again next time?"

"Hm, let me think about it."

Precious! I can see C doing a good velcro monkey imitation.
