School's Out Summer's here!!!

And man are we busy...

As a homeschooling family, our summers are probably quite a bit different than those of most families. Yet, our summers are very much the same. I will be keeping my children's minds occupied throughout the summer but at a much slower pace than during the actual school year. Music lessons are a must and we try to keep our minds fresh by reading books and science journals and history magazines throughout the summer and, if I am really sly about it, I am usually able to slip in a math review here and there(sometimes even without weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth).

But this post isn't about school, it is about School's Out and Summer's Here!!! For those of you who are wondering , yes, we do take a much needed break from the routine. We are very fortunate to live only an hour away from Florida's white sandy beaches. We love the crashing waves, and the sea gulls, the salt air and sand in our pants! By this time next month my four kiddos will have golden brown tans and rosy red cheeks! I love summer time.

Another great thing about summer time is that with our cut back schedule I am able to focus on my own hobbies instead of school lessons and "Mommies Taxi Service".
My to do list for the summer? Grab a cold drink - this is going to be long!

Oh, never mind - I started listing it and it was so long I was getting depressed. Suffice it to say, I will be busy this summer doing things I love. Sewing, playing the piano, swimming, loving on my kiddos, and I will even slip in a couple overnight trips with my husband.

Ah, summertime!

Congratulations on the arrival of summer vacation at your house! We have about a month to go but I'm like you, I can't wait to do somethings for myself for once!

An hour from the beaches? How fun! We also just finished up. The kids love summer break, but I miss the break it gives me from work! Well, at least I might get to bed sooner.

I've tagged you on my blog.. come take a peek!! ;)

Welcome to the etsy bloggers' team!
I remember making a to-do list one summer, then feeling depressed later because very little on that list was done. Better to make an idea list or, gasp, even none at all!

wish I was near a nice sandy beach sometimes...the kids will enjoy the break for sure!
No homeschooling here...but we still make sure that their minds don't go all gooshy either...I like the journal idea - maybe my oldest can combo it with his music - thanks for the idea :)
